Zeki Candan is currently working at Istanbul University. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Forest Products Engineering from Istanbul University.He has many publications including peer-reviewed international journal papers and presentations. Dr. Candan has received many national or international honors & awards including Second Class Honors – Forest Products Engineering, Istanbul University; Second Place in poster competition at the Forest Products Society 62nd International Convention, the United States in 2008; Travel Grant at the TAPPI International Conference on Nanotechnology for the Forest Products, the United States in 2008; Third Place in poster competition at the Society of Wood Science and Technology 52nd International Annual Convention, the United States in 2009; Wood Preservation Award at the Forest Products Society 67th International Convention, the United States in 2013; First Place in National R&D Project Competition, Republic of Turkey Ministry of Economy, Turkey in 2013; Third Place in National R&D Project Competition, Republic of Turkey Ministry of Economy, Turkey in 2013; Third Place in National R&D Project Competition, Republic of Turkey Ministry of Economy, Turkey in 2014; First Place in National R&D Project Competition, Republic of Turkey Ministry of Economy, Turkey in 2015. He has been as a Visiting Researcher at many universities in the United States, Europe, and China. Dr. Candan is active in several professional societies including the Forest Products Society; the Society of Wood Science and Technology (for whom he served as a member of the Membership Committee and the Visiting Scientist Committee); the Society for Adhesion and Adhesives. Dr. Candan has been as editor, editorial board member, and reviewer in many international peer-reviewed journals.

Zeki Candan research involves nanotechnology applications in wood composites, biomaterials, and thermosetting & thermoplastic adhesives, nanocellulose-reinforced adhesives and composites, nanocomposites & bionanocomposites, thermal analysis methods (DMA, TMA, TGA, DTA, DSC).

Dr. Emo chiellini has completed his PhD in the year 1963 at the age of 26. He is Director for Bio lab Research Group at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry – University of Pisa UdR/INSTM and former full professor at university of Pisa, Italy and he is a member of scientific Committee at Interuniversity Consortium of Materials Science & Technology (INSTM), Florence – Italy. He has more 50 years of teaching experience. He took responsibility in industrial funded r&d projects from 1977-2014. He is involved in Ec-funded projects (fp4 - fp7) from 1993-2013. He has his involvement in Project co-funded by the Italian ministry of university & research from 1998-2009. He is editorial board member for more than 10 journals. He has Over 500 publications (420 in Peer Reviewed Journals and 85 Chapters in Books) in the field of Polymer Science and Technology. He has 34 Patents & 19 Books . he marked his presence in more than 300 national and international conferences. He visited more than 80 countries as invited scientist and professor.

Pr. Luc Avérous is a Group (BioTeam) Leader, Head of Polymer Research Department at ICPEES (UMR CNRS 7515) Univ. of Strasbourg (France), and former Lab Director. He started as Polymer Engineer (EAHP-Strasbourg). Then in 1995, he obtained his PhD in Polymer Science & Engineering (Ecole des Mines de Paris). In 1997, he became A/Prof. at ESIEC (Reims-Fr) after two post-doctoral positions (Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, ). Then in 2003, he became a Full Professor at ECPM (Univ. of Strasbourg), where he teaches biopolymer science, biomaterials, composites, plastic processing & polymers charact. During the last two decades, his major research projects have dealt with biobased and/or biodegradable polymers for environmental & biomedical applications. As a leading international expert in these fields, he has developed strong collaborations with several foreign labs (Australia, Brazil, Canada, Spain, ) and major companies (Total, PSA, Soprema, Tereos, ). He serves as a member of research advisory boards for different companies. He is regularly invited to co-organize Conferences, to chair Symposia, and to give plenary or keynote lectures overseas. In 2011, he was the main organizer of 2 major International Conferences in Strasbourg: BIOPOL & WoodChem 2011. He has co-edited 3 books (Wiley, Elsevier & Springer). He is a member of several Editorial Boards, and Guest Editor for scientific journals. He is a referee for many scientific journals, books and international projects.He has published hundreds of scientific communications with around 5000 citations.

Florent Allais is currently a Full Professor in Chemistry at AgroParisTech and the Director of the Chair ABI (Industrial Agro-Biotechnologies) in Reims (France). He has completed his PhD from the University of Florida in 2004 and postdoctoral studies in the group of Prof. Janine Cossy (ESPCI, Paris, France) and Dr. Jean Boivin (ICSN-CNRS, Gif-sur-Yvette, France). Prof. Florent Allais has presented his research in numerous international conferences, published more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals, granted/filed 8 patents, served as reviewer of various journals and as Associate Editor of Frontiers in Chemistry (Chemical Engineering)

Maria Cristina Righetti, who received her PhD from the University of Bologna (Italy), has many years of experience on materials characterization. She has devoted her research activity mainly to the study of the correlations between molecular structure and physical properties of polymers, biopolymers, blends and composites, through thermal, morphological, mechanical and viscoelastic characterization. She is author of 70 publications in international ISI journals (50% as corresponding author) and 6 book chapters.

Dr. Ali Nabipour Chakoli is the Scientifc board member of NSTRI, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Tehran, Iran.Also, he is the lecturer in Shahed University, Tehran, Iran. Matjaž Kunaver has done his MSc from the University of Leeds UK in 1991 and has received his PhD degree in 1998 at the University of Leeds, UK. He is a Senior Scientist Researcher at the National Institute of Chemistry, Laboratory for Polymer Chemistry and Technology, Ljubljana, Slovenia and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Ljubljana and Polymer Technology College. His main fields of research are the utilization of biomass as a feedstock for polymer synthesis and production of nanocellulose. He has published more than 50 original scientific papers and 6 patents.

2006 up to date he is the head of laboratory of plant biopolymers at the Tbilisi State Medical University Institute of Pharmacochemistry. 1978 and 1999 has completed his Ph.D and D.Sci. at the ages of 33 and 54 years from Zelinsky Instiute of Organic Chemistry, Moscow, Russia and Durmishidze Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Tbilisi, Georgia, respectively. 1996 and 2002 he has been a visiting scientist at Utrecht University (faculty of pharmacy), The Netherlands, by University Scholarship and The Netherlands organization for scientific research (NWO) Scholarship Scientific Program, respectively. He is the author and co-author of more than 76 papers in peer-reviewed journals, about 62 presentations at international scientific meetings, and 2 patents.

Dr.Geoffrey Robert Mitchell is experienced at developing, managing and leading teams of scientists drawn from different disciplines. A significant part of this work is conducted in partnership with industry and through national and international collaboration. He is an experimental scientist with a strongly multidisciplinary programme of research focused on polymers, and which involves active international collaborations and the use of both in-house and international experimental facilities including neutron and synchrotron facilities. There is a strong focus on the study of molecular organisation and the development of structure-processing-property relationships. He has experience at many Higher education institutions and also he is an author of many books. He also received Courtauld Polymer Science Prize in 1988

Amar K Mohanty, a Full Professor and Premier’s Research Chair in Biomaterials and Transportation is the Director of Bioproducts Discovery & Development Centre at University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. He is an international leader in the field of bioplastics, biobased materials and advanced bio-refining with a focus in engineering new sustainable materials. He has more than 500 publications to his credit including 260 peer-reviewed journal papers, 25 patents (granted/ filed), several conference presentation, 15 book chapters and three edited books - his total citations being 13,827 with h-index of 56. He was the recipient of the Andrew Chase Forest Products Division Award from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and Jim Hammer Memorial Service Award from the BioEnvironmental Polymer Society. His R&D excellence has helped in developing a number of industrial products and recently his research innovations have brought three biobased products to the market place

Research interest fields include natural fibre composites, bioplastics, biobased materials and integrated biorefinery with a focus on engineering of new sustainable materials.

Dr. Mubarak Ahmad Khan is Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and Director General, Atomic Energy Research Establishment, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission. He did his Ph.D. in Radiation and Polymer Chemistry. He is working in several promising areas of Radiation Chemistry and Processing Technology, natural fiber reinforced polymer composites, nanotechnology, material science, biomedical science, applied science etc. Also experience in fiber reinforced polymer composite materials for various applications such as parts and body of auto car, panelized constriction materials, and bodies of electric appliances. Totally biodegradable composite materials based on natural fibers and degradable (both and synthetic) thermoplastic and resin for biomedical purposes. His focus is to use radiation-processing technology for biomedical purposes, renewable energy, Dye sensitized solar cell, modification of natural fibers; stimuli-responsive materials, hydrogel, scaffold form natural polymers. He has conducted research works in many countries including America, Germany, Japan and etc. He has worked in Germany (Technical University of Berlin, Fraunhofer Institute of Applied Polymer Research) as DAAD and Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) fellow, in Japan as MIF Fellow, as visiting scientist, in Australia (University of New South Wells) as IAEA fellow. Trained in Nuclear and Radiation Chemistry through various training course organized by IAEA. He is a part time Professor of Dhaka University, and visiting professor and examiner of various universities of Bangladesh. He is author/co-author of about 600 publications including 16 book chapters and a patent. He has served as project director/co-project director of different national and international scientific project on polymer science. Reviewers of different International Journals on Polymer and Composite Science as well Radiation supervised more than 300 M.Sc. 8 M. Phil and 13 PhD. Students. He is part time/visiting Professor of different universities of home and abroad. He has invented advanced wound dressing material from cow bone, liquid bio-fertilizer from textile effluent, natural plant growth promoter from prawn shell etc. He is also the inventor of Jutin (Jute Reinforced Polymer Corrugated Sheet) the outstanding housing material from jute plastic composite and food preservative using oligo chitosan (alternative to the formalin), He is awarded several national and international awards including Bangladesh Academy of Science Gold Medal awards 2010 for his remarkable contribution to scientific community. He is also awarded and honored by various social and academic institutes in home and abroad, He is also selected as Fellow of International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). His name was published in How’s Who in World in 1998. He visited more than 22 countries for participating different seminars, workshops, symposiums, conferences as invited speaker or speaker.

Tatsuo Kaneko has completed his Ph.D at the age of 27 years from Tokyo Tech and Assiss. Prof. studies in 3 universities including Osaka Univ. He also joined the Bioengineering Department at UCLA as a Visit Assoc Prof in 2012. He is a full professor and the head of excellent core research center in the current affiliation, JAIST. Current research interests include gels, liquid crystals, engineering plastics, and biomaterials, for which he has published 150 papers in reputed journals and received several awards such as “Gottfried Wagener prize” The 9th German Innovation Award

Warren Grigsby is a Researcher Leader at Scion (New Zealand) with research activity spanning synthetic and polymer chemistry applications of biopolymer systems. Warren is leading the development of bio-based adhesive and polymer systems that can be used as substitutes for chemicals derived from petroleum. He has a lead role in the direction and coordination of innovative research efforts in both commercial and government-funded research. His current research activities include the synthesis of biobased adhesives and resins for use in engineered wood products and high performance composites, novel wood modification processing strategies, and adapting polyphenolics in a range of applications.

Warren Grigsby research interest lies in Polymers and adhesives. he focused on developing wood-based materials and composites that incorporate high performance bonding agents.

N. Gorgaslidze has completed her PhD at the age of 37 years from Saint-Petersburg State Chemical-Pharmaceutical Academy (Russia). She is the director of kutateladze Institute of Pharmacochemistry at TSMU and professor at the department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy at Tbilisi State Medical University. She has published more than 88 papers in reputed journals and the author of 4 books and 2 patents. She is a member of organizing committee of several international conferences and meetings. She has more 40 years of teaching experience.

Nana Gorgaslidze's research interests are natural biopolymers and development of new drugs on the basis of natural products.

Dr. O.L. Shanmugasundaram is working as Professor in the Department of Textile Technology at K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology, India. He received his Diploma in Textile Processing in the year 1996 from Erode Institute of Technology, India. He obtained his B.Tech. degree in Textile Technology in 2000 from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, India. He has qualified in the GATE Examination with 83.21 percentile score in the year 2003. He received his M.Tech. degree in Textile Technology in the year 2005 from Alagappa College of Technology, Anna University, Chennai and Ph.D. in Medical Textiles from Anna University in the year 2011.

Dr. Patrizia Cinelli, PhD in Chemistry at Pisa University, partly performed at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Peoria, IL, USA. She is researcher at the National Research Council, and Contractr Professor of Applied Chemistry and Materials Science at the Master Degree Laurea in Construction Engineering and Architecture at Pisa University. She regularly acts as reviewer for several internation journals on materials science. She has over 20 years of experience in materials science, polymer processing and characterization, biodegradation and life cycle assessment. She is co-author of over 40 papers in peer reviewed journal, 9 book chapters, and 8 patents on innovative materials.

Dr. Maximilian Lackner earned his PhD in 2003 and his habilitation in 2009 from Vienna University of Technology. He has held several senior leadership positions in the polymer industry in Austria and China. Dr. Lackner has founded 5 companies, amongst them one for antimicrobial polymers and one in the area of bioplastics, Lackner Ventures & Consulting GmbH. This company collaborates with JinHui Zhaolong, one of the largest PBAT manufacturers. The research interests of Dr. Lackner include PHA and PBAT. Lackner Ventures & Consulting GmbH runs a research project to produce PHB from CO2 and sunlight using cyanobacteria. Dr. Lackner has authored more than 100 scientific articles. He teaches materials science at the University of Applied Sciences FH Technikum Wien. Close
